With the mission that "Catoosa County Public Schools is a student-focused learning community, where excellence is expected from staff and students, every day, without exception" system personnel recognize that students face a future where technology will affect every facet of their lives. Through the use of technology in instruction, the schools can offer unique and powerful opportunities for everyone to succeed. Through the system strategic plan, Catoosa County Schools are committed to strengthening technology integration through the strategic objectives and focus areas within the strategic plan.
While it is understood that technology can improve education only if it is used as a means to an end, students and instructors must have access to state-of-the-art technology. Catoosa County is meeting this challenge rapidly, yet methodically. The student/technology device ratio for the county is 1.53:1. All library media centers, classroom and computer lab computers along with mobile classrom technology will access the internet and local area networks resources in each school. All schools are connected to the Internet through a Wide Area Network and a partnership between AT&T and Ringgold Telephone Companies.
The current strategic plan initiatives are possible through an Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST). The major focus of the technology initiatives within the current ESPLOST is Let's Get CONNECTed. This initiative will ensure that all students will have access to technology. Students in grades K-2 will have an iPad to use at school and all students in grades 3-12 will have a Chromebook. Students in grades 9-12 will be able to use their Chromebook at school and at home. Finally the system is committed to building on a firm foundation for the future by using a combination of ESPLOST monies and E Rate to strengthen the network infrastructure and provide each school with a wireless environment.
